<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Do you know what reducers are? They are those inserts placed in the top of many of your plastic squeeze or glass drop containers that live up to their name - they reduce the amount of product coming out of the bottle. This is good while it's full to prevent waste by stopping too much from pouring out at one time. But it also prevents you from being able to fully empty the contents of your beauty product left inside when the container stops squeezing it out or the bottle stops dropping. Here's the solution. Take a thin straight edge knife and wedge it between the reducer and bottle where they fit together. Carefully and slowly pry it up and watch it flip out. Now use your MakeUpMiser, Original Flex-Tip Beauty Spatula to go deep inside the container and get days and even weeks more of your valuable skin care product. The smallest Mini-Miser will work the best usually on these size bottles. The black spoon tip allows you to see how much product you are pulling out so you get just what you need per serving. They work FANTASTIC with so many expensive skincare products. I use my MakeUpMisers at my spa with many of my back bar products at work too. It really saves so much money and gives me power over the product. Three cheers for smart savings! </span><br />

<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">First of all, o</span></span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">nly buy <b>extra virgin cold pressed organic unrefined</b> <b>coconut oil</b> because it
contains no destructive bleaches, chemicals or heat processes that destroy its’
health benefits.</span></span> </span></span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">I <b>keep a small amount of coconut oil </b></span></span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b>in a prep bowl </b>(from my kitchen) </span></span>on my bathroom vanity. I put approximately ¼ cup of oil in the bowl -which lasts about a week. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">When it's empty I run it through the dishwasher and </span>refill it from the container I keep stored in my kitchen for cooking and nutritional purposes. </span></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b>To apply coconut oil to my face or body </b>I
love dipping into the oil with my MakeUpMiser flex- tip beauty spatula instead of
my fingers . I found that using my fingers caused a lot of waste, cross- contamination and instant dripping because it melts at just 76 degrees.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>My beauty spatulas are just the right size to scoop and hold onto the <b>very small amount needed</b> and prevent it from melting before I'm ready to apply. </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b>This is how I use coconut oil as a facial cleanser</b> - First I pat my face with warm water<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>and then take about a
half scoopful of oil with my medium-sized "Miser" spatula and apply it directly to my face.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> I cleanse by using </span>circular and long massaging strokes. I can even use it on my eyelids. The longer I massage the better.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>To rinse I take a fluffy washcloth and run it several
times in hot water to make sure all detergents are washed out. Then I squeeze out most (but not all) of the hot water and drape it
over my entire face to allow the steam to penetrate into my skin for awhile. Ahhhhh...this feels heavenly! </span></span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I rinse my face using
the other side of the cloth with warm to tepid water. </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b>Coconut oil is a fabulous all over makeup remover!</b> I spread a little oil on 100% cotton balls or cotton rounds with the back
side of my beauty spatula - like spreading butter - and it instantly wipes off mascara and makeup. It
is safe, inexpensive and a natural lash conditioner. I never need to buy makeup remover again!</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b>Rotating coconut oil as a cleanser/moisturizer and my
usual skincare products </b>at night time gives my skin a variety of beneficial ingredients.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>My skin looks healthier using this method <b>and </b>also stretches out my expensive skincare
products to save me big $$ money.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b>For a full body wash, I use my larger beauty
spatula and apply scoopfuls (one at a time) directly to my body -massaging it in well.</b> I wait a couple of minutes to allow the oil to penetrate my skin (about the time it takes to brush my teeth) before stepping into the shower.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> Because coconut oil has an anti-bacterial component it's a great body wash. To rinse off excess oil </span>I just use the shower water to rub down the oil with a fresh washcloth. This is such a luxurious body treatment after a
day at the beach.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><o:p></o:p><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> <b>If you suffer from keratosis pilaris</b>
(those little tiny white bumps on your upper arms and back of legs) apply
coconut oil in or out of the shower and watch them disappear in a few days. </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><b>Coconut oil is the best and most economical shaving lotion</b>
I’ve ever found and protects against irritation and moisturizes at the same
time.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The <b>fastest way to wash the oil off the spatulas</b> is to use a travel-size spray bottle filled with 70% rubbing alcohol. Just spray and tissue off...so easy and very sanitary. ENJOY!</span></span></div>

another 100 years. Before climbing out of bed I made a little wish
(more like a silent prayer) that something wonderful might happen this
day to mark the moment. But as the day progressed it was appearing just
like any other. “It’s no big deal” I thought… I have much to be
grateful for – besides; wishes hardly ever come true, right? <br />
<br />
That evening when I got home from work - I put down my things on the
dining table and, as I always do, then sat down in front of my computer
to check on the day’s MakeUpMiser website sales. I literally thought
my email was malfunctioning. Sales confirmations were popping into the
inbox every few minutes and this had been going on all day because my
inbox had multiple pages of new sales! <br />
<br />
Rob, my husband, had
called me earlier to say he had heard that Martha Stewart appeared on
the Today Show that morning and briefly mentioned something about <a href="http://www.makeupmiser.com/">makeup spatulas</a>.
But she spoke it in passing and did not mention a brand name. <br />
<a name='more'></a>Now I
had to know…because it sure seemed like more than just a coincidence
with the amount of sales our site was getting. After several Google
searches (I’m ridiculously slow) I stumbled upon a tweet Martha posted
after the show. She said everyone was asking where she gets her makeup
spatulas. You’ve guessed it, they were from makeupmiser.com and she
also attached an absolutely gorgeous photo of them! Oh My Goodness!
My heart stopped…I just stared silently at that photo in utter
amazement and then began laughing and crying with my husband, who was
sharing every emotion with me. <br />
<br />
You see, when we first ventured
into this retail jungle in 2009 with my new creation, I mailed many
MakeUpMiser sets to TV hosts and celebrities, Martha Steward being one.
I received a lovely thank you note from her and some others, but filed
them away under “miscellaneous” and forgot about it. In my wildest
dreams - I never saw this one coming and especially three years later. <br />
<br />
It’s
more than fabulous that Martha Stewart finds MakeUpMiser to be a good
thing and told the world. I also realize that not only hard work and
dogged persistence are necessary for success, but also little prayers
and wishes can and do come true and can lift the heart like nothing
else. 12-12-12 was the day Martha Stewart rocked my world. What a
difference a day makes. Thank you God and thank you Martha!<br />

<br />
Welcome to my blog.<br />
<br />
My goal for writing this blog is to help educate
women (and men) on proper skincare and offer money-saving tips on how to
get the most from your skincare products. I thought I would begin by
giving you a brief background on my personal journey and how I became so
passionate about helping others find their true beauty.<br />
<br />
I became interested
in skincare when I was in my early 40s (like most women). I enjoyed
talking to the estheticians who gave me treatments, but what I found was
that some were truthful and others were just trying to sell me
products. This motivated me to become an esthetician myself, so I could
help others navigate the ever-alluring jungle of cosmetic promises and
dreams.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Being an esthetician has allowed me to share what I know, but I knew
there had to be a way to help people who wanted to get the maximum
return on their skincare investment. After years of trial and error I
invented the MakeUpMiser® – a spatula-like tool that allows you to get
every last drop out of your makeup container.<br />
<br />
These tools literally pay
for themselves after the first use. Many women have told me they get up
to three additional weeks of product by using the MakeUpMiser®.
My goal for this blog is to unlock all the beauty secrets that have been
hidden from ordinary people like you and me. I have learned so much
since I became an esthetician and I want to make sure everyone has
access to the tips and tricks that I do.<br />
<br />
While there is no fountain of
youth, there are simple things you can be doing to make a world of
difference in your skincare.<br />
<br />
So take a moment to like me on Facebook to receive my Skin Deep Blog and
follow me on Twitter for my Tweet Beauty Tips.<br />
<br />
I promise to provide
valuable information that will not only help you look better, but also
help you spend your cosmetic dollars more wisely. Until next time,
remember that real beauty is much more than skin deep.<br />

plenty of disposable income. However, even if you are not living an
opulent lifestyle your skin can still look as if you do. Here are some
common sense skin care tips that will give you healthy, vibrant skin and
help slow the aging process. The first and most important step in
skincare is proper cleansing because it sets the stage for all other
steps. If you don’t get this one right, then all the money you spend on
skin care products are practically wasted. <br />
<br />
Tip #1 – Cleanse Your Skin Twice a Day<br />
Sounds
pretty straight forward, right? Truth is many people don’t take the
time to properly cleanse their skin – and a dirty face ages faster than a
clean one. For a clear complexion you should cleanse your face morning
and night. If you only feel you have time for a once a day cleansing,
then be sure to do it before bedtime. As you sleep the body goes through
detoxification and regeneration processes. Your skin is your body’s
largest organ – so always go to bed with a fresh clean face.<br />
<br />
Tip #2 – Keep Grease at Bay<br />
Washing
will only keep your face clean if the surfaces it comes into contact
with are clean as well. People with acne and oily complexions should be
extremely careful not to cross-contaminate their skin by exposing it to
surfaces that have facial oils, old makeup and hair styling products on
them such as pillow cases. Change them often. Also hats and pads in
sports helmets that touch the face are severe breeders of bacteria, dirt
and oils and should be cleaned regularly. Touching your face also
transfers bacteria from your hands right into your pores. Break that
habit! <br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
Tip #3 – Proper Cleansing Techniques<br />
First, be sure
to cleanse your face with warm (not hot) water. Wash your hands before
you touch your face so you do not transfer any dirt or oil. With your
hands wet, apply cleanser to your face and massage in a circular motion
with your fingers. Take your time and get into the crevices around your
nose, ears and jawline.<br />
<br />
Tip #4 – Proper Rinsing Techniques<br />
Use
a clean wash cloth every time to prevent bacterial transfer. I
recommend the cheap, white, thin ones that come in bundled packs. They
work much better than thick, velour cloths. Fill the cloth with warm
water and gently wipe the cleanser off your face. Repeat if necessary
and pat dry. You now have a clean canvas to apply your skincare products
and makeup.<br />
<br />
By learning to cleanse your face correctly, not only
will you be playing a preventative role in keeping breakouts to a
minimum and slowing the aging process, you will also be rewarded with
the maximum benefit from your pricy skin care products.<br />
<br />
Stay tuned for my next blog post, where I will discuss what cleansers work best.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16902089493790400362noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-575138199158712262.post-16998821590257057612013-05-26T08:28:00.001-07:002013-05-26T08:42:12.160-07:00Choose Your Skincare Products Wisely<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt6Sliia1e2EcN04IfS9IGqtRAg7gkmXxYdH6gXiBZ0WpD2pTZHMFe9pKZ6K0-WSWbNt05e_RygbyDM6KKEonyAqf2ZHFiqHeff4kI9EHyq9fTUTEbHxeANSgVhHCZh3-NrvcHFWXpZrEZ/s1600/skin+cleanser+blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt6Sliia1e2EcN04IfS9IGqtRAg7gkmXxYdH6gXiBZ0WpD2pTZHMFe9pKZ6K0-WSWbNt05e_RygbyDM6KKEonyAqf2ZHFiqHeff4kI9EHyq9fTUTEbHxeANSgVhHCZh3-NrvcHFWXpZrEZ/s1600/skin+cleanser+blog.jpg" height="320" width="237" /></a></div>
It’s much easier to choose your skincare products if know what to look
for and what to stay away from. Let’s talk cleansers first.
<br />
<br />
Your facial skin is much more delicate than your body skin. Therefore
you should never use body soap to wash your face. Also, water is not
enough to remove makeup, oil, dead skin and all the environmental
particles your face picks up during the day. For a bright complexion you
must use a facial cleanser.
<br />
<br />
A loose cream or gel cleanser that is water soluble and easily rinses
away is the best choice for most skin types. I do not recommend bar
cleansers because they contain waxy ingredients necessary to form their
bar shape, which can clog pores.
<br />
<br />
You should not feel residue on your face after rinsing. If your cleanser
gives you a squeaky clean feeling after rinsing and makes your face
feel tight it means the detergents in the cleanser are too harsh and
have stripped the pH balance from your skin. This causes the skin to
immediately go into “repair mode” to bring back its pH balance.
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
In an effort to help your skin return to normal, the oil glands often
overreact and start pumping out excessive oil, which negates your
cleansing routine. Cleansers with isopropyl alcohol and acetone give
skin the same reaction. Stay away from cleansers with heavy fragrances
that can cause irritation. Most facial wipes contain chemicals with very
irritating ingredients.
<br />
<br />
Cleansers with alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) are good for almost all skin
types except those with acne. The most common AHAs are glycolic and
lactic acid. An AHA cleanser gives the skin a healthy glow by ungluing
and washing away dull dead skin cells, allowing new skin cells to
surface. AHA acts as a humectant to keep the skin hydrated. It also
smooths and softens sun damaged skin, clears up occasional blemishes and
minimizes pores.

If you are prone to acne and blackheads you should use a cleanser with
salicylic acid, which is a BHA (beta hydroxy acid). BHA’s travel deeper
into the skin than AHA’s to unplug clogged pores. Another ingredient
to look for is Benzoyl peroxide, an organic compound that kills acne
causing bacteria and acts as an antimicrobial. It is safer to choose a
lower strength BP (2.5%) because they are less irritating to the skin
and research shows that higher strengths are not significantly more
effective in clearing acne.

Don’t use “all-natural” facial scrubs. They typically contain crushed
nuts and those slivers can lacerate your skin tissue. Scrubs with a
sandy feel perform most like microdermabrasion and should be used <u>after</u>
cleansing. Never use a scrub the same time you’re cleansing to remove
dirt, oil and makeup from your face. You will actually be grinding it
all back into your skin. YUCK!

You don’t need to purchase a pricey electric face brush to get your skin
really clean. The chemical exfoliation of an AHA or BHA cleanser
penetrates into the skin and exfoliates it more evenly than mechanical
scrubbing. For sensitive skin types, a gentle milk cleansing lotion is
effective and soothing.

It’s easy to waste a lot of money on cleansers because you keep trying
to find one that works. I recommend dropping by a reputable spa and
talking to their resident esthetician to see what she recommends for
you.

For those of you who are interested – I use Jan Marini Skin Care Research Bioglycolic Facial Cleanser and absolutely love it (<a href="http://www.janmarini.com/" target="_blank">www.janmarini.com</a>)
SRP $29.00 for 8 oz. pump. It contains glycolic acid and rinses so
clean there is no need for a toner. I use it twice a day and one bottle
easily lasts five months. And with my MakeUpMiser I’m able to scoop out
100% of the product from the bottle.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16902089493790400362noreply@blogger.com0
